The search for meaning is powerfulThe international Awakening the Dreamer movement is, like Transition, an organized approach to allowing communities to re-invent themselves in an energy-efficient, planet-protecting, and sustainable manner of living.  Emphais is placed on spiritual and emotional change as well, and this is particular to the Awakening the Dreamer effort. will be following up on a regular basis with more observations on this important topic.  From the Web site:

This is arguably the biggest story of our age; how tens of millions of people in millions of organisations around the world are recognizing that our current ways are dysfunctional. They are seeing sustainable, peaceful and just alternatives and standing up for their visions.  In many cases this means standing up to governments, corporations or the peer pressure that seeks to perpetuate our present worldview.

The movement embraces the work for human rights, for the protection of our environment, for access to education, healthcare, housing and even food and water. In another language these are: environmental sustainability, spiritual fulfillment and social justice.

Member: PT (David Alexander) My lifelong pursuit, since age 18, has been to live more fully and find wisdom. This has involved studies with Zen masters, Tai Chi masters, and great psychotherapists while achieving my license as a gestalt therapist and psychoanalyst.

Along the way, I became aware of how the planet is under great stress due to the driven nature of human activity on this planet.

I believe that the advancement of human well-being will reduce societies addictive behaviors, and will thus also help preserve the environment and perhaps slow down the effects of global warming and other major threats to the health of human societies.
